We are very excited that the fantastic Sally Pressman, Roxy LeBlanc on Lifetime’s Army Wives, interviewed USO volunteer Paulette Nelson for Homefront Heroes. Not only that, but Sally hosted us on the set and everyone we met was wonderful. We can’t thank them enough!
Paulette is a pretty special person, although she will argue with you about that. She makes sure our departing soldiers leave with a friendly smile, warm hug and encouraging words before boarding the planes that take them to Afghanistan and Iraq. For each departing flight, Paulette has a special keepsake she gives to those she thinks might need a little extra comfort. She shares those stories with Sally in this interview and if you are curious about what she gives them, check out the interview.
Paulette doesn’t just focus on those deploying. She is also one of the volunteers that greets them when they return. Those reunions are extra special and represent a sigh of relief that someone she sent off came home safely. Paulette and her husband Bill also open their home and 130 acres to the men and women that serve and are looking to get away from the Post and enjoy some down time. They go 4-wheeling, hunting and enjoy just hanging out.
We hope you will check out the videos and head over to the Army Wives website too!
